What We Collect
Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:
Contact details - your name and email address, and your location if you share it, when you submit an appointment request or contact us.
Appointment details - what you share about what you're looking for, and any notes, photos or preferences you send us while we work together.
Payment details - records of fees paid for private appointments. Card details are handled directly by our payment provider and are never stored by us.
Newsletter details - your email address and subscription preferences when you sign up through the site or Substack.
Technical and usage details - such as IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed and how you arrived at the site, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
Correspondence - the content of any messages you send us.
How We Use It
To respond to inquiries and arrange, provide and follow up on private appointments.
To send our newsletter and updates, when you've asked to receive them.
To run, secure and improve the site, and understand how our edits and pages are used.
To keep business, accounting and tax records as required by law.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Newsletter
Our newsletter, Brecken, is published through Substack. If you subscribe, your email address and subscription activity are held by Substack under its own privacy policy, and Substack may collect analytics such as email opens and clicks. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email, or manage your subscription in your Substack account.
Affiliate Links
Many pieces featured on Brecken link to other retailers, including through ShopMy. When you click one of these links, ShopMy and the retailer may use cookies or similar tools to record that you came from Brecken, so we can receive a commission. Once you're on a retailer's website, that retailer is responsible for any information you provide, under its own privacy policy.
Cookies and Analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, remember your preferences, and understand how the site is used. Our site is hosted by Squarespace, which provides basic analytics on traffic and popular pages.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the site work.
Who We Share It With
We share personal information only with providers that help us run Brecken, such as Squarespace (website hosting and forms), Google Workspace (email), Substack (newsletter), our payment provider, ShopMy (affiliate links) and our professional advisers. Each is expected to keep your information secure and use it only to provide its services. We may also disclose information if required by law.
How Long We Keep It
Appointment inquiries and correspondence are kept for up to two years after our last contact. Payment and business records are kept for seven years for accounting and tax purposes. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is kept in line with each provider's standard retention periods.
Your Choices and Rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or ask us to stop contacting you. We'll respond within a reasonable time, and we won't treat you differently for exercising your rights.
Children
This site is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no website or email service can be guaranteed completely secure.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed, and the current version will always be on this page.
